Engines troubles forced a United Airlines passenger aircraft to divert to Kona International Airport for an emergency landing on Thursday. The airplane, believed to have more than 300 people on board, landed safely around 10:40 a.m.

Engines troubles forced a United Airlines passenger aircraft to divert to Kona International Airport for an emergency landing on Thursday. The airplane, believed to have more than 300 people on board, landed safely around 10:40 a.m.

Flight 641, a Boeing 777, was bound from Los Angeles to Honolulu when the pilot declared the emergency, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor confirmed. The 777 is a twin engine aircraft.
